Half Moon Bay shootings: 7 dead in two related incidents in California; suspect arrested

Seven individuals were killed in two related shootings in a seaside local area south of San Francisco, specialists said Monday, the most recent mass shooting in California in under seven days.

The shootings occurred at two plant nurseries on the edges of Half Moon Narrows, California, a little city around 30 miles south of San Francisco, specialists said. San Mateo Region Manager David Canepa tweeted that one shooting occurred at a mushroom ranch.

The San Mateo Area Sheriff's Office said four casualties were found with gunfire wounds at the primary firing scene. A fifth casualty was moved to the Stanford Clinical Center with dangerous wounds. Three extra casualties were seen as not long after at the subsequent scene.

A suspect, Chunli Zhao, 67, an occupant of Half Moon Narrows, was found in his vehicle in the parking garage of the Sheriff's Office Half Moon Sound Police Substation over two hours after delegates showed up at the main shooting scene, Sheriff Christina Corpus said.

Zhao was arrested "without occurrence" and a self-loader handgun was situated in his vehicle, as per Corpus.

"Zhao is accepted to have acted alone, and there could be no further danger to this local area," Corpus said during a Monday night public interview. "This is an overwhelming misfortune for this local area and the families contacted by this unspeakable demonstration of savagery."

The sheriff's office and the San Mateo Region Lead prosecutor's Office are dealing with talking Zhao to view as a potential rationale, Corpus added.

Authorities accept Zhao is a laborer at one of the offices and that the casualties were laborers too. A few specialists at one office lived in the vicinity and kids might have seen the shooting, Corpus said. The association between the new offices wasn't clear.

Corpus said authorities hadn't decided a rationale in the shooting, however region Leading group of Managers President Dave Pine depicted the suspect as a "disappointed specialist."

The shootings came days after 11 individuals were killed in Monterey Park, California — an affectionate, dominatingly Asian American people group — in the midst of Lunar New Year weekend festivities.
